Release 2007-03-05 of the Mac client available

March 6, 2007 posted by Mike Puchol

We’re pleased to announce the release of an updated Mac Whisher client, which fixes the same issues that were fixed in the last Windows release, plus the following:

  • Fixed WPA and WPA2 support, with Apple’s latest APIs.
  • Fixed some crashes during registration of WiFi signals.
  • Improved login time.
  • Improved general stability.

The download is available here, as before, simply mount the .dmg, and drag the icon to the Applications folder. There is no need to uninstall the previous version, although it could help if you have a much older release and you experience problems with this one.

As always, we welcome your comments and reports, and development continues to adapt and improve Whisher in many different aspects, more news to follow!

Hmm I still don’t see any WPA option when I’m asked for the password of my Airport Express that i’m trying to register. It only lists different flavours of WEP 64 and 128.
I’ve also noticed that every time Whisher crashes (and it happens pretty often) it disconnects my network connection.

Ok, I got it.
I have to directly start the connection to my Airport using Whisher, I can’t simply register the network while I’m already connected. It works now.

Hi Steve,

Do the crashes happen with this release? Please use the ‘Send report to Whisher and Apple’ button so our developers get information about what happened.
